Annie Doss Eckford, 90, born on October 12, 1934, in Prairie, Monroe County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Annie’s life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to her family and her work, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.
Annie embarked on a lifelong career as a cook at Texaco, where she was known for her culinary skills and her ability to bring comfort through food. Her meals were a source of joy not only to her family but also to her colleagues and patrons alike. She brought warmth and hospitality to all who gathered around her table.
Annie was a cherished mother to her daughters, Eddie Jean Trulove, Annie Mae Pierce, Latonya Eckford, and Diana Brandon. Her devotion to her family was evident in all she did, and she instilled in them the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience.
Annie is predeceased by her father, Jimmy Lee Doss, and her mother, Lillie Mae Key. Their influence shaped her into the remarkable woman she became, and they will always be remembered in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, located at 216 Hwy 25 South, PO Box 129, Aberdeen, MS 39730. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of Annie. Following this, a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1 PM at Daniel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1516 South Matubba Street, Aberdeen, MS 39730.
