Billy Wayne Evans, 68, affectionately known as "Meatball," passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Baptist Health Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on November 22, 1956, in Sulligent, Lamar County, Alabama, Billy was a beloved figure to many and was treasured for his warm spirit and generous nature.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Elwanda Metcalfe Evans, who stood by his side through the ups and downs of life. Together they raised a beautiful family that includes their sons, Michael McDowell and Demeatric Evans, and their daughters, Brandy Evans and Sherrita Evans. He also leaves behind his brothers, Frankie L. Evans, Bishop Andre Evans, and Derick Evans, who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
Predeceased by his parents, Franklin Delano Evans and Nancy Lee Jackson, Billy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we celebrate his life, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Sulligent, Alabama. The service, scheduled to commence at 1:00 PM and will honor the joyous moments and the enduring impact Billy had on those around him.
Billy Wayne Evans will be remembered not only for his fond nickname "Meatball," but for his kindness, laughter, and unwavering support that he offered to those he loved. His spirit will remain alive in the stories shared and the love carried forth by his family and friends.
