Burlie Jean Worthington

October 11, 1941 — October 2, 2024

Amory, MS

Burlie Jean Worthington, 82, a radiant soul whose life was a tapestry woven with threads of love and resilience, departed this world on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in her cherished hometown of Amory, Mississippi, where she had graced the earth since her birth on October 11, 1941. She was a beloved wife, a nurturing mother, a devoted sister, and a guiding light to all who were fortunate to cross her path.

Burlie lived a life filled with purpose and passion, embodying kindness and compassion in all her endeavors. As the heart of her family, she nurtured each member with unwavering love and support. Her husband, Freddie Worthington, Sr., stood by her side through the seasons of life, sharing in the joys and challenges they faced together. Their bond was one forged in deep affection and mutual respect, leaving an indelible mark on their family legacy.

As a mother to her son: Freddie Worthington, Jr. and daughters: Cynthia Fuller, Sonya Wallace, and Tiffany Wallace, she imparted wisdom, strength, and an unyielding spirit. Burlie's children will carry her memory forward, instilled with the values she exemplified—devotion and an open heart. Each moment spent with her was a blessing, filled with laughter, lessons, and the warmth that only a mother can provide.

In addition to her role as a devoted wife and mother, she shared a special bond with her brothers, Lee Curtis Ezell and John Ezell. Their memories together—a blend of childhood adventures and lifelong camaraderie—will forever echo in their lives, forming the very fabric of their family history.

The echo of her laughter and the warmth of her smile were a salve to many, and her compassion knew no bounds. Those fortunate to call her a friend were enveloped in her kindness, her joy radiating like sunlight breaking through clouds on a dreary day. She had an uncanny gift for making everyone feel valued and loved, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of her family and community.

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Amory. This will be followed by a heartfelt Celebration of Life on Sunday,  October 13, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM at Carter's Chapel Church Of The Living God, also in Amory. It is in these gatherings that family and friends will come together to honor and remember the extraordinary life of Burlie Jean Worthington, a woman whose spirit will continue to inspire and uplift long after her journey on this earth has concluded. Her legacy lives on in the laughter of her children, in the love of her husband, and in the cherished memories that will be etched into the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
