Cynthia Pamela Pittman-Horton, 54, beloved educator and community leader, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born on January 9, 1970, in Vardaman, Calhoun County, MS. Cynthia dedicated her life to shaping young minds during her 28-year tenure at Coffeeville Elementary School. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom as she actively participated in the Calhoun County Ladies Collaboration and was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
Cynthia will be fondly remembered by her surviving family: her loving mother Sara Nell Pittman; devoted husband Eugene Horton; cherished daughters Brittany Venson and Briana Pulliam; supportive brother James Pittman; and caring sister Natasha Pittman. She was predeceased by her father, Tommy Allen Pittman.
A visitation to honor Cynthia's life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Jackson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Bruce, MS. The funeral service will take place the following day on Saturday, April 20, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Cynthia's impact on her students and community will always be treasured. Her kindness, dedication, and wisdom touched the lives of many. May she rest in peace as her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
