Jerry Joseph Burnett, 72, born on August 10, 1952, in Monroe County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Hamilton, Mississippi. He was a dedicated farmer whose connection to the land reflected his commitment to his community and family. Jerry’s life was marked by hard work, resilience, and a deep-seated love for those around him.
Throughout his life, Jerry embodied the spirit of a true family man. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory forever. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Debra Danner-Burnett, and his beloved sons, Christopher Trimble and Jeremiah Burnett. Additionally, his legacy continues through his daughters, Cutina (Eddie) Williams, Angel Trimble, Amanda Trimble, and Felisha Verner (Curtis), who will carry forward the values he instilled in them.
Jerry was the proud son of Rossie Thomas-Burnett and the late Joseph Burnett. He is also preceded in death by one sister: Nancy Fay Heard. Jerry shared a special bond with his brothers, Cvester Brand, Arthur (Shirley) Burnett, and Danny (Nina) Burnett, along with his dear sister, JoAnn (Robert) Burnett-Hill. His relationships extended to his in-laws, including his father-in-law, Henry Edward Danner Sr., and brothers-in-law Elliot Danner, Henry E. Danner, Jr., and Amizo Danner, as well as his sisters-in-law, Stephanie Rich, Nickey (George) Ewing, and LaShanda (Sylvester) Lowe.
To honor the life and legacy of Jerry Joseph Burnett, visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 40031 Fields Drive, Hamilton, MS 39746.
Jerry’s memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire both family and friends as they reflect on the profound impact he had on their lives.
