Mary Louise Fortson, 88, a beloved retired School Teacher, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Monroe Regional Hospital, Aberdeen, MS. She was born on January 8, 1936, in Aberdeen, Monroe County, MS.
Mary had a fulfilling career as a teacher, where she shared her knowledge and wisdom with countless students. Her dedication to shaping young minds left a lasting impact on the community she served.
Apart from her illustrious career, Mary was also a proud member of the Heroines Of Jericho during her lifetime.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dennis Fortson, and mother, Eldora McAlister. Mary is survived by her daughter Tawanda Fortson. She is also survived by her brothers Sandy Fortson, David Fortson, and Frank Fortson; as well as her sisters Lorine Sims and Maxine Brown.
The services to honor and celebrate Mary's life will take place with a visitation for Family Only at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen on Friday, April 26, 2024, followed by funeral services on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Daniel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1516 South Matubba Street in Aberdeen, MS.
Mary will be remembered fondly for her unwavering dedication to education and her kind spirit that touched the lives of many. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy lives on through all those she inspired.
