Mattie Sue Townsend

Mattie Sue Townsend, 81, beloved by many and known for her warm presence, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Shearer Richardson Memorial Nursing Home in Okolona, MS. She was born on February 6, 1943, in Maben - Oktibbeha/Webster Counties, MS.

She is survived by her loving son, Jerry L. Townsend, and daughter, Peggy Naugles. Mattie also leaves behind her brother Joe Bell and sister Mary Nell Woodard.

Mattie Sue Townsend was predeceased by her father Robert Bell and mother Flossie Bell. She is also reunited in eternal peace with her brothers Oris Bell, Robert Bell, John Thomas Bell, as well as her sisters Nora Lorene Glaspie and Sarah Francis Strong.

A visitation to honor Mattie's life will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The funeral service will follow the next day on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Popular Springs M.B. Church in Pittsboro, MS. The service is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.

Mattie Sue Townsend will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and may her memory live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
