Nida Lee Garth Howard-Rice

Nida Lee Garth Howard-Rice, born on June 7th, 1942 in Monroe, has passed away at home on May 9th, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones in the final moments. Nida has left behind an incredible legacy, touching the lives of many and leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Nida's professional life took a backseat when she became a mother. Raising her nine daughters and six sons was the greatest joy of her life. She had an unwavering commitment to her family and did everything within her power to ensure their happiness and wellbeing.

Family meant everything to Nida, as demonstrated by the love that she showed to her siblings throughout their lives. Her four brothers and three sisters will always remember the way that Nida brought them together and fostered such strong relationships between all family members.

The visitation services for Nida will be held on May 19th at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen. The visitation will take place from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at New Hebron M B Church-Egypt Road on May 20th at 12 noon.

Her surviving children include sons Curtis Howard, Tommie Howard, Raymond Howard, Willie Howard, Christopher Rice, Orlando Rice; daughters Melinda Walker, Emma O'Neal, Joyce Gilleylen, Christine Devauld; Rosie Fox; Wilma Lopes, Margie Carter; Juanita Jackson and Nicole Carter. Each one of them will forever cherish their memories of their mother.

We celebrate Nida's life with fondness and love in our hearts. Her passion for protecting her family was unparalleled, but she also found ways to support those around her who were less fortunate. Her legacy is not just restricted to the love of those who were closest to her but extends far beyond that. It is a testament to the exceptional person that she has always been.

Nida Lee Garth Howard-Rice will always be remembered for her incredible spirit, the joy she brought to all those who knew her, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. Rest in peace, Nida.
