Plascelia was born to the union of the late Clarence and Tempie Buckingham on March 29, 1926, the only girl of four children.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with a Methodist Church in which she was a faithful member until she married and joined New Hebron Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, vacation bible school teacher, junior choir director, missionary society member, choir member and assistant church secretary until her health failed. She attended school in the Aberdeen School District.

In 1943, she met and married the love of her life, David James, Sr., and to this union five children were born and also raised a nephew as their own from the age of two.

She was a loving wife, mother,grandmother and aunt.

In addition to her parents, Plascelia was preceded in death by one son, David James, Jr.; one grandson,Willie A. Cox; and one brother, Clarence Buckingham, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a beloved husband of sixty-eight years,David James,Sr.: five chldren, Marilyn Hawkins of Wichita Falls,TX, Linda(Robert)Merhundrew,Loretta(Willie)Cox and Michael James,all of Aberdeen,MS,Willie(Deborah)Buckingham of Stone Mountain,GA; two brothers,George Buckingham of Columbus,MS and James(Laura)Buckingham of Syracuse,NY: one daughter-in-law,Mary James of Chicago,IL; four sisters-in-law; twenty-four grandchildren;thirty-eight great-grandchildren,nine great-great grandchldren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
