Roosevelt Vance, Sr.

Roosevelt "Hut" Vance, Sr., 73,  was born on April 25, 1951, in Monroe County, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, Mississippi. He led a life rich in love, family, and community leaving behind cherished memories for his loved ones.

Roosevelt was the beloved husband of Sallie Mae Ewell - Vance. He was a proud father to his sons, Tony (Trina) Walker, LaTrans Rovell (Jo-Anna) Spraggins, and LaTrai Relberta Spraggins, as well as his daughters, Lisa Jones and LaTarsha Reshequa Spraggins (Bud) Taylor. In addition to his immediate family, Roosevelt is survived by his loving sisters, Myrtle Smith, Anna (Rocky) Vance, Sarah Lou Vance, Gertrude Shelton, Millie Ann Hoskins, Virgie Dell Vance, Jacqueline Vance, and Trena Rena Vance. He will also be remembered by his brothers, James Humphrey (Rosie) Vance, Orlando Gates, and Michael Gates.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Vance, Sr. and Daisy Lee Howard, as well as his late wife, Annie Mae Walker Vance. He lost a son, Roosevelt "Red" Vance, Jr., and several siblings, including Berniece Bilbo, Virginia Boyd, Jimmy Vance, Willie James Vance, Walter Vance, and Elbert Vance, Jr.

The Vance family invites relatives and friends to gather for a Visitation at Belle Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Daniel Missionary Baptist Church, starting at 11:00 AM until noon. Both locations are situated in Aberdeen, Mississippi.

Roosevelt Vance's warm spirit, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love and unity that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
