Wardell Andrews, Sr. was born April 20, 1919, to the late Thomas and Ella Louise Andrews in Lowndes County. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Brick Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. He later relocated to Johnson Chapel Holiness Church in Aberdeen, MS., under the leadership of Elder A. Barnes. He was a faithful member of the church and served as a Deacon until his health began to fail. His passion was singing the gospel with the Spirit of Paradise, the Brown Singers, Crossroad Male Chorus and others. For many years he was a co-host on the Golden Spiritual Hour. He was also a faithful member of the St. Rest Lodge #5, where he served as a Chaplain.
Wardell Andrews,Sr. was united in holy matrimony to Lizzie Chapman-Andrews on December 24, 1949. To this union 3 children were born. His wife, Lizzie Chapman-Andrews, preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents. Thomas and Ella Louis Andrews and one sister, Juanita Gibson.
Leaving to cherish his precious memories: 1 daughter, Joann Burton of Aberdeen, MS; 2 sons, Wardell Andrews, Jr. (Shirley)_of Tupelo, MS. Jimmie Dale Andrews of Aberdeen, MS; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, one special niece, Margaret McFarland, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
